GHM and Alila Hotels & Resorts consolidated in 2001–02, renaming the property **Alila Manggis**. The resort exemplifies Hill's East Bali vocabulary — a quieter, more contemplative counterpoint to the Nusa Dua and Seminyak resort zones — with a refined material palette and its characteristic shaded walkways and water features. > **Note on naming:** KHA portfolios sometimes list this project as "The Serai" or "Serai, Bali." This should not be confused with the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay, for which Kerry Hill made early design contributions (as the original Regent Bali commission from Adrian Zecha) that were ultimately not realised — the property was redesigned and opened in 1993 under a different architect. ## Reviews & Further Reading - [Alila Manggis — official](https://alilahotels.com/manggis/) - [A Brief History of Bali Tropical Boutique Hotels](https://raditmahindro.medium.com/a-brief-history-of-bali-tropical-boutique-resorts-31ea0a90537a)
