Unlike the remote rainforest siting of The Datai or the clifftop seclusion of Amanusa, the Beaufort occupied a commanding cliff on Sentosa Island — a more urban context — but Hill maintained his characteristic sense of landscape immersion, siting the hotel within 27 acres of tropical woodland above landscaped water gardens and pools. The property incorporates a heritage building — Block 59, a garrison building constructed by the British between the 1880s–1930s — used as a spa.
